The Kisch Wedding

My first time ever photographing a wedding!

I met Leeann six years ago when I started working as a personal trainer at a local gym. Never would I have imagined that I would be photographing her wedding just a few years later! Leeann met Dale online and what was supposed to just be a dinner date turned into drinks and HOURS talking, and well the rest is history!

When Leeann first asked me to photograph her wedding I had just started my business and was unsure and not very confident in my abilities. My life was going in multiple directions and I wasn't even sure if I would be in the area at the time of her wedding... so, I told her I couldn't do it. But a few months later when I found out I would still be in Northern California I messaged her to see if she was still in need of a photographer for her big day, and she said YES! I will forever be grateful for such a wonderful opportunity to grow as a photographer. I learned SO much shooting The Kisch Wedding and feel that I grew into a more confident photographer because of it. Thank you Leeann and Dale for inviting me to capture your special day and for believing in me!

After having to reschedule their wedding due to Covid, Leeann and Dale finally got married at a quaint venue in Galt called Grace Vineyards. It was a hot day but, with lots of water, drinks at the bar, big fans, and misters we made the best of the heat. The day started with pictures in the bridal suite making sure to capture all the details and fun moments that were had! One of my favorite tasks was capturing all the bridal details from earrings to shoes and everything in between! Even to this day, detail photos are some of my favorites on a wedding day!

The guests arrived on a party bus, YES a party bus, to the venue just before the ceremony was to begin. As the guests were arriving I made sure to capture the ceremony space as loved ones filled the seats. Once everyone was seated the wedding processional began. When it was time for Leeann to walk down the aisle I felt a rush of excitement and emotion thinking back to my wedding day and how I wanted to capture this special moment for Leeann so perfectly! It was a quick but beautiful ceremony.

Reception followed under a beautiful white tent with wooden chairs and white linens. After the guests had gotten their food there was a lull in needed photos and being my first wedding I wasn't sure what to do at this point. I didn't feel the need to capture guests eating dinner (nor felt that they'd want images of that) so, I snapped some pictures of a few other reception details and was pulled aside by the DJ. He knew I was a first time wedding photographer and told me to grab a plate of food and come sit at their vendors table around the corner. I was starving at that point but was committed to pushing through so, when he pulled me aside to tell me to sit down and eat, I was relieved! (I'd make the mistake of thinking I didn't need to eat at a wedding a couple more times before I realized dinner was always a must!)

After dinner it was time for toasts and then some fun was to be had on the dancer floor! One of my favorite moments of the day was the first dance! It was so special to be able to capture such an intimate moment for the bride and groom.

It was an 8.5 hour day of constantly being on my feet, carrying around all my gear, making sure to never miss a moment and I LOVED it. Leeann and Dale, thank you again for believing in me and trusting me to capture such a special day. It's one I will never forget!
